Adobe acquires Allegorithmic

Various 2019-01-24 08:36 article  > All

Allegorithmic is joining the Adobe to lead 3D creation.

Allegorithmic announced that it is joining Adobe. Makers of Substance Tools will be responsible for researching 3D opportunities. Allegorithmic assures that when it comes to licensing, nothing changes for now. Clients' current licenses will continue running and getting updates. There will be changes in the future though:

As we join the Adobe family, we will also unveil new and more flexible subscription offers in the coming months. We will share more details about these new and exciting licensing options at a later date. - Allegorithmic blog

The team behind Substance stays the same.

Allegorithmic has 140 employees and was started by Sebastien Deguy in Augvergne, france 17 years ago. He will be now Vice President, 3D & Immersive, reporting to Scott Belsky, Chief Product Officer and Executive Vice President, Creative Cloud at Adobe.

Adobe is bringing Allegorithmic on board so that we can, along with the incredible talent at Adobe which has already been working on 3D projects and research, invent the next generation of 3D creative tools, with Substance as a flagship product, but also combining Adobe’s own current 3D initiatives like Adobe Dimension, and more. - Sebastien Deguy blog.

The addition of Allegorithmic furthers our expansion of Creative Cloud into 3D content design. (...) With this acquisition, Creative Cloud will benefit from Allegorithmic tools that are already helping top gaming, entertainment, retail, and other brands create the textures and materials that give 3D content detail and realism. - Scott Belsky, Adobe
