How To Make Your CGI Walls More Realistic

RenderRam 2024-08-05 11:45 tutorial  > 3ds MAX  > modeling

Realistic walls with noise modifier.

Today Vjeko  from RenderRam talks about walls and how you can make them look  more organic and more real. The simpler the object in the scene is the more harder it is to render it photo. One thing that 3D does  which is abnormally unrealistic in real life is  to have things absolutely perfect - like all your wall corners and everything are always perfect straight. But you can fix it - just add subdivide modifier, set it to be 7 cm, add a chamfer on top of that. After that add a  noise modifier for the noise and set scale to be 800, turn on fractal and set roughness to be 0.1 and  for the strength you just need to put 1.5 cm on all axes.

There are more tricks in the video below, that let you fine tune this effect to achieve the best results.

Got no time to make realistic model of couch, sofa, pillow or chair seat? Why not simulate it with cloth modifier? It is much faster than traditional modeling.
