I am Abdallah Mostafa, 24 years Architect and 3D visual Artist who stays up-to-date with more experience, seeking to enhance it in the fields of Architecture and visualization.
This tutorial is not about a specific techniques, but rather about general and important workflow. I hope this tutorial can assist as many people as possible. As always - the trick is not to spend a lot of time to achieve the perfect result but to achieve best result in a short amount of time and maximize the efficiency.
This tutorial is the making off "The Last Wish" the 2nd Award winning image of Evermotion Challenge 2019.
So let’s start
Mood Board
First I start with a mega plane have a lot of segments to model a terrain on it
I start to model a terrain by insert ffd modifier with a lot of control points
Adding displace modifier temporary to see the final result befor I put displace in material
Water & Foam material: a used vertex color method to merge between two materials in one surface
Foam material
To apply used vertex color method to surface select it from object properties
Then start to draw where you want the foam material to appear
The same with ground material mixing between two variation first one is dry has small reflections
And second one has large reflections due to near from water
Drawing wet material on the edge of water
When finished dealing with ground and water material turn off displace modifier and put vray displacement mod modifier
