What is translucency and when (not) to use it?

RenderRam 2024-03-18 08:54 tutorial  > Making of  > modeling

RenderRam gives a detailed look into the translucent and sss shading.

Translucency and subsurface scattering are both important phenomena in 3D graphics rendering, contributing to the realism of materials such as skin, wax, and leaves. While they share similarities in altering the appearance of objects by simulating the behavior of light as it interacts with semi-transparent materials, they operate differently and should be used in different scenarios.
