Tutorial by Yones Bana.

Hi. I am Yones Bana, I am working as an Arch-Viz tutor and co-Founder of Vivid Visual Studio. In this tutorial, we will go through the new Finite Dome Feature of the upcoming V-Ray 6 to have more flexible ground projection capabilities in 3dsMax. This scene includes just a moving car and a plane to receive the car shadow on the ground.

02_22

Create a Dome light and assign VRay Bitmap with the appropriate HDRI map. Change Mapping source to Spherical.

03_24

Here we have a great option in V-Ray6. Finite in Dome light, for fine tuning light projection onto ground surfaces via three new settings: Radius, Projection height and Ground blend settings.

04_24

Here you can see the effect of Finite and more flexible ground projection.

05_21

Select Plane (Ground Model) and assign a V-Ray shadow catcher to it. Shadow will appear realistic.

06_18

Change the Radius parameter to achieve a nice dome size.
07_17

You should adjust the Proj Height to control the ground level.

08_16

Animate car and in the camera setting, enable Motion blur and control amount of blur with shutter speed.

And Final shot
