Blender & Substance Painter: Hard surface UV Unwrap Tutorial

Jayanam 2020-06-23 09:58 tutorial  > Blender  > modeling

Short video tutorial about unwrapping hard surface model in Blender.

This is a short video tutorial by Jayanam. He starts with the sharp edges, marks the seams and then removes some of them to keep special UV islands together. After that he unwraps the mesh and exports it into Substance Painter. We need to check the option to create the tilesets per UDIM file to avoid the creation of a tileset per material.

Then Jayanam explains how to add 2 smart materials to the model by using a black mask and removing parts of the mask for special UV islands using the polygon fill tool.
