Hair from Mesh Strips

Vimeo 2016-04-08 13:06 tutorial  > Making of  > modeling

Ornatrix for Maya basics.

Ornatrix brings a very powerful feature: ability to generate hair along polygon meshes. This allows you to use standard polygon modeling tools in Maya to define the shape of the hairs while benefiting the rest of the procedural power of Ornatrix hair grooming. The adaptive nature of this feature allows for high customization of the way that hairs are generated. The non-destructive approach also allows you to go back and make modifications to the polygon mesh and see the final hair updates in real time.

In this tutorial we learn the basics of this feature.

In part 2 we will see how this can be applied for modeling a hair in a real world scenario.

Ornatrix is a complete hair, fur, and feather solution for Autodesk Maya. It is currently in beta testing phase. Product page: ephere.com/plugins/autodesk/maya/ornatrix/
