Here's a sneak peek at some of the things developers introduced in the first daily build of Corona 10 for 3ds Max. This is not a full features list. and it's still an early build. That means that UI, feature set, results, etc. may change upon release.
All the functionality you see is already in the daily build Corona 10 daily build for 3ds Max you can expect to see it coming out for c4d soon.
There will be some changes to the corona clouds system that was added in Corona 9. previously it only worked with the sun in realistic mode where it was the sun color was defined by its angle in the sky. Now however you can use clouds with the sun in direct input mode where you select an arbitrary color.
Another update is that the corona camera now knows what medium it is in. This applies to when it's inside some sort of volumetric material. You can also give the camera a size and show that size in the viewport. This is Handy for having the camera half inside and half outside a volume.
Another effect of this is that the camera can now fly through volumetric materials such as open vdbs and Phoenix
simulations.
The corona scanned material was added in Corona 9 giving you access to chaos scans. In Corona 10 you can now drag and drop from file explorer into the corona scan material. There will be also a support of triplanar mapping in the material, then you can also apply custom bump and displacement to the material and finally the material can now be previewed in the 3ds Max viewport.
Developers improved the rendering of caustics and rendering times when you're using Corona's render selected option (this can show up to a 600 percent increase in speed when you are using render selected).
