AcademyDays: join an event for arch-viz artists in Venice

I’m Gianpiero Monopoli and together with Roberto and Manuela, I’m one of the three co-founders at SOA. I’m the curator of the AcademyDays. The event was born in April 2011 with the goal of gathering in one place the best artists and practices in our field to share techniques, inspiration and lots of happy moments together.
Although I knew many artists and colleagues in the world, I had never had the chance to meet them personally. From here the idea to create this event. I strongly believe in human relationships and even though technology removes the distance between people, it actually won’t ever replace the nice feeling we have when speaking with someone in real life, perhaps while drinking a cocktail, and sharing with them our experiences and ideas for the future.

For this reason, thanks to the support of my partners, we started this adventure which now is approaching the 9th edition. Over the years we had an increasing number of attendees, enough to make us look for a bigger place as location for the event.

The main theme of this year is “Back to the future of ArchViz”.

The idea came out because in the huge chaos that nowadays is invading our industry, the AcademyDays#9 wants to go back to the origins and find a direction to follow. We’ll go back to the format based on the making of with technical information to improve our daily work.

This year the event will involve Visualizers and Architects in a face to face debate because we think that a confrontation is essential between the two players. The final panel hasn’t been released yet but for Evermotion’s audience we can give some preview of the speakers who will present in the 2018 edition:

The event is taking place on October 12th and 13th, 2018 at the DoubleTree Hilton Hotel in Mogliano Veneto, which is only 10 minute far from Venice Airport and 20 minutes from Venice city center.

On October 11th, in the same venue, SOA Academy organizes some workshops on Corona Renderer, V-Ray by Chaos Group and Substance by Allegorithmic.
In the past editions of the AcademyDays we had about 1430 attendees from 34 different countries: a worldwide success that derives from lot of work and determination to promote new contents with an eye to the future and to the new trends.

The purpose of the AcademyDays has always been to create culture in our Industry because we think that Artists have to stay at the core of our world and that technology is developing so fast that we can’t fall behind if we want to be competitive. Our mission for the event is to give new ideas, tools and techniques; our hope is that after returning home, the attendees can think on what they saw and try to put it into practice.

The topics we present at the AcademyDays are the result of our work here at SOA Academy, where we continue doing research and development and take to the attention of our students a tool or a technique which looks promising. Then all this is also taken on the stage during the event when skilled speakers talk about their experiences and teach us something on different points of view related to the archviz field.This is what has always made the difference: we are the active part of our industry because we do it everyday; we collaborate with the best software houses and train the archviz artists of the future.

This is the reason why the AcademyDays represents the event where the archviz industry meets every year.
