No more perpetual licences of SketchUp

PR 2020-06-05 09:49 article  > Software

Software will become subscription-only in November.

You will not be able to purchase perpetual lincense for Sketchup after 4 November 2020, because Trimble is moving to a subscription-only model.

The first step was the release of SketchUp 2019 with three new subscription plans: SketchUp Shop, SketchUp Pro and SketchUp Studio. Permanent licenses were still available after this point (as Studio Classic option). This week developers announced that they will leave subscription-only versions after 4 November 2020. Trimble discontinues also maintenance and support renewals - if you have perpetual Sketchup license you will not be able to upgrade it after that date.

We've been offering subscriptions for about a year, and we’ve proven this method enables us to release new features faster  (...)  Subscription demands constant improvement of our product and enables us to make SketchUp better for you - Trimble (company that develops Sketchup software)
