Editors' choice award

Inside a massive simulation dome capable of recreating legendary circuits and weather conditions, the greatest F1 drivers in history are cloned to race every three days in hyperreal replicas of their original cars—now enhanced with modern performance. Spectators watch remotely through drones and holographic crowds. After each race, the clones are erased, and the machines are reset. But sometimes… one remembers. And begins to wonder: “Am I alive… or just an echo being replayed?” _ Project: FORMULA ∞ — The Grand Prix of Echoes Version: 3.1 | Date: 12/08/2049 | Status: ACTIVE Internal Reference: FIA-∞-DOC-4728 Restricted circulation — Level 4 access and above only 1. Project Objective Project FORMULA ∞ aims to recreate competitive historical Grand Prix events within a fully controlled, immersive environment by deploying cloned legendary F1 drivers and dynamically simulating iconic circuits. The goal is to leverage the global cultural memory of Formula 1, maintain the prestige of its heritage, and provide a next-generation immersive spectator experience. 2. Infrastructure 2.1 — The Eternity Dome Location: Australian desert / orbital (secondary project). Dimensions: 12.6 km diameter / 1.3 km height. Technology: Ceiling composed of adaptive OLED matrices, Full environmental systems: wind, fog, humidity, programmable rainfall, dynamic temperature, Light simulation: day/night cycles, storms, sunset, etc. Reactivity: 4-hour turnaround for complete environmental reconstruction. 3. Cloning & NeuroSimulation 3.1 — NEUROECHO™ Database Behavioral and cognitive data reconstructed using historical footage, interviews, biometric telemetry, and synthetic neural modeling. Active driver roster (partial): Ayrton Senna (1988–1994) Gilles Villeneuve (1977–1982) Juan Manuel Fangio (1950–1958) Niki Lauda (1975–1985) Jim Clark, Jochen Rindt, James Hunt... 3.2 — Clone Lifecycle Activation: Day -1 (physical initialization and neural sync) Lifespan: 48 hours (preparation + race period) Deactivation: Post-race memory wipe and cellular recycling Note: Mnemonic persistence detected in 2.3% of subjects. Investigation ongoing. 4. Vehicles 4.1 — Modified Historic Replicas Chassis: true-to-era bodywork and design Mechanics: internal hybrid systems, regenerative braking, passive AI stabilization Performance: equivalent or superior to modern F1 specs (adapted for period driving style) 4.2 — Validated Configurations (examples): MP4/4 (Senna) – night rain – Silverstone Ferrari 312T (Lauda) – dry dusk – Suzuka Lotus 49 (Clark) – heavy fog – Spa 5. Spectators & Broadcasting 5.1 — On-site attendance Public access: prohibited. Dome operates under permanent closed conditions. 5.2 — Holographic audience Simulated fans generated by behavioral AI models based on F1 audiences (2020–2030). Visual output includes cheering, signs, movement, synchronized responses. Calibrated to match live digital social engagement. 5.3 — Remote viewing Immersive platforms with customizable POVs (grandstand, cockpit, drone, free-cam). Smart drones capture full cinematic coverage from all angles. 6. Post-Race Protocol Winning clone is granted a ceremonial victory lap. Interaction with virtual audience permitted (limited duration). Then, sequential shutdown of lights. Entry of autonomous retrieval units: Vehicle extraction. Clone retrieval. No human interaction. Full reset of systems in preparation for next cycle. 7. Reported Anomalies Memory fragments have been observed in several clones (identifiable as "Echo Cases"): Repeated execution of unprogrammed trajectories Facial recognition toward non-existent individuals in holographic audience Verbal outbursts deviating from scripted range (e.g., "I remember", "This has happened before") 8. Legal & Ethical Status Clone classification: limited-use biological entities, no legal rights (designation E-3). Subject under review by the Post-Human Technology Ethics Council (PHTEC). Quarterly reports mandated. Oversight protocols active. END OF DOCUMENT Restricted Access – Unauthorized distribution subject to legal action (Biotech Code 2247 / INT-FIA)
