Apply material to object in 3ds max?

Hello, I can't manage to apply my material to the FBX in 3ds max. If i drag and drop it says 'Apply material to selection' or 'apply material to object', in both cases my FBX is grey. here I have a picture of the scene: 207620 Could someone help me fix this? Thanks for the help -Daniel
