More than a little inspired by Wes Anderson I've tried to keep to an uncomplicated composition and an appropriate colour pallet for his work. I started by chopping the houses down to single storey to allow ground floor access but then decided they needed more height so instead swapped the first and second floor in the model. I had considered adding people, a boat or maybe some animals - but instead decided to keep it as a nice serene capture of a Winter's dawn. I looked over a selection of floating houses from around the world to try to keep the image as realistic as possible (whilst keeping as much of the original model intact as possible). I've also considered the architecture needed for the homes to work, adding frosted glazing for the ground floor full height window to obstruct the view from the shore and for the first floor bathroom (top left). There's some nice subtle aspects to the image which hopefully come through the longer you stare at it. I hope you like it :) Rendered in 3dsMax with V-ray. Most of the post was done in the V-ray frame buffer whilst rendering and I used Aerial Perspective within the render to create the correct fading of the distant objects. The trees are all placed with Forest Pro. The sky HDRI, trees etc. are all from Chaos Cosmos. The table and chair (in the green house) are from Evermotion AI54_007. And all other objects / materials I've modelled / created.
