The wait is over! Our jury has selected four winners of the Evermotion Challenge 2022! Voting was fierce, especially in the "Best Commercial Render" category. Here are the four finalists that made the best 3d works in 2022.
Best Animation - Unreal Short Film by Aurel Alto
Vasilis Koutlis:
Aurel Alto obviously created a great short film. It stands out from anything else I've seen not only for the amount of work, which was enormous but also because of the respect for all the basic principles of 3D art. It was an enjoyable 10 minutes of viewing!
Hrvoje Cop:
This entry immediately stood out from the others, not only due to its sheer lenght at almost 9 minutes, but also the visual style and presence of an actual story. While not perfect, and in particular moments revealing of its 'made by a solo guy in UE' nature, it is without question the best of this year's entries. I would also like to add the audio was well done and fit the overall theme nicely. Congratulations on your persistence and hard work.
Michal Horba:
As my previous speakers said - your animation stood out from othes; you actually took effort to make a real movie. Congratulations on your hard work! Yet it lacks some in plot, or technical aspects, however it is really amazing to realize that a single guy took a shoot and made a nice UE piece.Congratulations and keep it going!
Best Commercial Render - Hotel in the Train Station, Versailles by sentievermo
Vasilis Koutlis:
First of all, it's an interesting project itself. A typical daylight scenario but with beautiful work in the foreground. It's not the super hyper-realistic style I usually love to see while looking at a commercial project but a respectable effort with a pretty nice and picturesque result.
Hrvoje Cop:
This year's entries were a varied bunch, but upon my first look, this image stood out to me as the most visually pleasing. Nicely done overall and technically solid. I like the details, and I only noticed what seems to be an out-of-focus element stuck to the camera upon second viewing. I have no idea what that is, but I can't really say that I mind it. Being commercial work, I can understand the somewhat rigid perspecive, but I do believe a bit more creative framing might improve the shot further.
Michal Horba:
I love the idea that some of old infrastructure can still be reused and made into a working hotel. Your work is rich in details and has very pleasant vibes. The mood is warm, your work invites to visit this place and encourages to take a walk down the railtrack ;) As for me you sold the idea and commercial rendering should always do. Congratulations you are a master of your craft!
Best Personal Work - Ancient Mega Machine by dpandrell
Vasilis Koutlis:
The first thing that came to my mind when I saw this image was "Pure love for 3D art". Simply Congratulations!
Hrvoje Cop:
Great concept and lots of effort in this one. I like the attention to detail and that no part of the image was 'sacrificed' just to be done with it, which is so often the case. Good work on the near/far planes and nice lighting as well. I like the subtle volumetrics, and the use of sparks and particles to emphasize the factory-like feel of the whole image.
Michal Horba:
I don't really know what to say apart from that: this is mindblownig! Great composition, rich and interesting concept, perfect lighting- in short- EYE CANDY! Nice playing with the plans - solid and strong; black figures and wires that set a frame of your image do the job.I can imagine how much work took the concept of that ship but surely it was worth it because that looks splendid.Congratulations!
Best Unpublished Work - Mobile House by caoruming
Vasilis Koutlis:
Everything in this project looks pleasant. The framing is very good and you can observe so many details everywhere which are embraced by wonderful illumination and storytelling.
Hrvoje Cop:
A clear winner in this category. Nice concept, well executed, there's a story to it and lots of cool details. Not the luckiest of compositions considering how the tower needlessly sits on the very edge of the frame but that is a minor gripe all things considered. Good work!
Michal Horba:
Nice! This is the most oryginal idea in this category. You got rich and funky imagination and along with your skills its a nice blend. The details, light, all techical stuff is terrific but the composition is kinda cropped on top and I don't know was that intended or is it just a bug. Despite that your work seems complete to me and is a number one in this category. Congratulations on your work!
Congratulations to all winners! And big thank you for all participants and our sponsors!
Each of the four winners will receive:
This year jury:
Vasilis Koutlis - Designer / 3D Photographer - The instigator of both xDream3D and VWArtclub was born in Athens, in 1979. He studied furniture design and decoration. He began his occupation with 3D art in 2002 and in 2007 the idea of xDream3D was born. He managed to acquire partners from all over the world and various collaborators trust him with their ideas as he rewards them with detailed designs. Not a moment goes by without him thinking of a beautiful image, thus he is never concerned with time but only with the design’s quality.
Hrvoje Cop - Polymachine - (commonly known as Chopmeister) is a 3D artist, obsessive tinkerer and the CTO of Polymachine, an archviz studio from Zagreb, Croatia. In the archviz business since the early 2000s, he enjoys discovering new ways to solve technical problems, and is addicted to most things that feature LEDs and buttons.
Michał Horba (Evermotion) - Degree in architecture and urban planning mixed with passion for 3d - during my university times I discovered the most fun part for me was making the project look great. And so my journey began. Ten years of experience as 3d generalist shows that my main interests are architecture illustrations and material making. I am responsible for some of Evermotion's crazy scenes as well. It is a honor for me to be here, have fun!
