The Secret Garden - Challenge 2016 - Ryan W.

172649 Not sure where my first post went but never the less, really looking forward to participating in this comp, first online competition I've ever entered so excited by the challenge and am going to use this to expand and explore some pipeline tools and techniques I've never tried. I've never really done any 'Arch-vis' per say but do intend on moving into that field as of next year, So with my VFX background I'm going to stick with my Guns. My Initial idea is for now, very changeable and am not to sold on it myself so feel free to throw your two cents in. I welcome any critique. My initial idea is based off forgotten relics or places once used and since reclaimed by nature creating small grove or in this case "secret garden" dictated by the natural growth of nature. I like the idea of a Monolithic feel from a forgotten man-made structure and am pushing that through the use of vertical guide lines and wide lenses... Birds for scale? perhaps.. I'm not sure on the scale I want to go for but will feel that out as I dive into the block-out phase. Anywho.. here are some initial concepts + a few exploratory paint-overs. Initial Idea for overall form and composition. 171949 Expanding on that idea 171951 potential composition to block out further + exploring foliage block-out to get some sort of framing. 171952 Software Notes. Maya - Forgive me. Nuke for compositing - I plan on some animated cameras if time permits. Quixel + Mega Scans - keen to give this package a go. Speedtree - never used it, looks great. Renderman - not the fastest tool in the shed.. why not. Mari + Photoshop - for general texturing. Cheers, Ryan W
