Whola Lotta Loft! Challenge 2015 - The Hermit of the Factory

The Hermit of the Factory For the final entry my goal was creating a clear and stylised image in the spirit of slow living (one of the key elements of the image the old tortoise which symbolizes it in a funny way). This trend routed in the Scandinavian culture and the intimacy of the Nordic family and home. We are in a spacious factory which gives the image an almost sacred atmosphere. It is important here that domestic space gives legitimacy to industrial elements. The image portrays the desolate owner of the home. Basically I was inspired by the work and style of the photographers from Yellows and Linkdeco for example Mikkel Rahr Mortensen and Kristofer Johnsson. For the technical part, the real challenge was showing a broad range of tones in the image despite of the entirely white space and overexposure. I modelled everything in the scene. I put great emphasis on textures and materials (mainly layered materials). I tried to achieve correct reflection curves and unified colour correction for the textures.
