Steps to the Star

An exploration of the ancient construction methodology of roofing by way of transition from a square base, to an 8 pointed star to the dome. The corbel steps to the "Star" dome are the "muqarnas", Arabic word for stalactites. Philosophically, this transition represents the journey from the earth to the heavens.This kind of construction reached its peak in the domes & elements of the Al Hambra.
