SketchUp's Real-Time Rendering Moment: Lumion View, AI Render, and the End of the Export Workflow

SketchUp 2025–2026 has added native PBR materials, AI image generation, and real-time rendering plugins like Lumion View, letting archviz artists produce photorealistic images without leaving the viewport. This collapses the traditional design-to-render pipeline.

Cabin by the Lake

The scene was modeled in Maya and rendered using V-Ray. The tree models came from the Archmodel online libraries, imported into Maya as OBJ's and shaded. I converted them to V-Ray proxies and scattered across the landscape. Lighting was done with an HDR image in Maya. Color correction done in Photoshop.
