Spitfire

I love warbirds. I've been obsessed with them since I was young. There's something about the aircraft from this period, perhaps the fact that because they had less power than jet aircraft eventually would, they may have had to move more elegantly with the forces of nature. Lift and drag would have been so much more important when thrust was in lesser supply. Whatever the reason, there is a grace to the machines that defies the character of their purpose, and I tried to capture that in this image. The Spitfire to my mind is the epitomy of design in this era. There are so many stunning aircraft from this period to choose from, and any one of them would have worked for this image, but there's something about the Spit that just gets the heart racing. This image was created with 3DS Max, VRay, and Photoshop.
