Google is going to launch its virtual reality platform - Daydream VR. At yesterdays I/O keynote, the company announced that Daydream will run on Android N devices which are coming this fall. there will be also Daydream viewers and motion controllers.
Daydream will replace Cardboard (disposable headset released in 2014). It will be mobile VR platform, which means that viewers will not work without a phone (at least at the beginning). And, since Cardboard worked with almost every decent smartphone, Daydream will be much more restrictive. Only new smartphones will be compatible with this platform, with special sensors and screens.
Google will also add VR mode to Android N that will improve performance when using Daydream.there will be Vr versions of Youtube, Street View, Play Store, Photos and Google Play Movies. We can also expect software from Ubisoft and Electronic Arts, Netflix will be compatible too. There is also a bunch of hardware partners, including Samsung, HTC, LG, Xiaomi, Huawei, ZTE, Asus, and Alcatel.
Daydream VR experience will be available for people with new phones, new Google headset, probably similar to Samsung VR and controller.
