Death

Since I have always been seeking and learning about skeleton and muscles, this project started by modeling a Skull. In this respect, I chose ZBrush and 3Ds max and gradually skull as the sign of death became my main concept. I searched through other interpretations or let say other symbolic meanings of skull and generally death as well. Later I thought about creating a scene including a skull as the focal point and the main icon of death. In this way, I learned a lot from this project. 80% of texturing was done by substance painter, and rendered by V-Ray RT ( for me it was the first time wrapping up a project with V-Ray RT GPU).I write down all symbolic elements shown in the scene and the related interpretations.. of course they can have other meaning too. Maybe you are eager to know these symbolic elements :) Flowers : They are called: "Chrysanthemums". mums are frequently included in arrangements for funeral services. In some european countries, such as: France, Italy, Spain, Poland, Hungary and Croatia, chrysanthemums are symbol of death and are only used for funerals. - on the drapery in the scene, the flower pattern are kind of abstract form of these flowers of course the drapery itself is sybmbol of mourning. Vase : those patterns on vase are moths.a certain type of moth, the death’s head hawk moth, is very commonly associated with themes of death due to its unique skull-like patterns on its thorax. This has been present in many popular works through the last century, most notably ‘the silence of the lambs’. Skull : The most common symbol use of the skull is as a representation of death and mortality. Hourglass : An hourglass (or sandglass, sand timer, or sand clock) is a device used to measure the passage of time.I used it to represent that when upper part of hourglass is finished, it means death and end of the life and on the contrary, downside which is now complete with sand, represents another life in another world... Book : in general they can symbolize: knowledge, man's intelligence, man's ability to communicate. So lack of knowledge leads to death, ignorance leads to death. I chose the title of Ignorance for this book, in contrast to the real nature of book as the source of knowledge.
