Evermotion Challenge 2013 - Sphere House

Hello everyone, I'm Erwin van Strien I work as an engineer and 3d artist in the Netherlands. For my house of the future i will use a theme of something we in Holland have always been fighting against namely "water". Our ancestors needed to be creative with how they built their houses. Nowadays we have been building great structures so we are protected against the water. That was different in the past, back in those days the land had to deal with floods from time to time. They built their houses on hillocks to keep themself and their stock of cattle dry. In the future we have to deal with a lot more water from rising sealevels and from changing climate, we have to give a lot of land back to nature. And people will start building their homes on hillocks again. My idea was that because of the water infrastructure will be unusable for almost the whole year. So we built the house in a factory and get it to the right place with big robots. And a sphere house would be the best shape for it. Atleast that's the idea. ;) ------------------------------------------------ EVERMOTION Challenge 2013 final entry Sketchup Pro | Thea Render | Photoshop (textures used are from photo's taken this weekend from a forrest nearby). 110723 concept image 109831
