The beauty pass seems to lack contrast and depth. If you were to look at it in black and white, I'm sure a lot of the tonality in the image would end up more or less the same (rougly 50% grey) color. In order to fix this you could try to remove some ambient light from your scene, and rather make your light rays a more central part of the image. IE make it really promote an interesting focal point. You could also try to add some contrast in photoshop to make it less flat. There is also a slight lack of reflectivity and interesting qualities to your materials, which contribute to the flat look of the scene. That being said, I love the light ray you've got going there. Also, your modeling is spot on with awesome quads more or less everywhere. Some models have triangles, but whatever works is A-Ok. It's a nice scene, and it could use some improvements here and there to make it a truly wonderful rendering!
