The Cost of Thinking

I chose to interpret the challenge "Changing Weather" symbolically rather than literally. The image reflects one of the forces contributing to climate change: the ever-growing demand for energy. It imagines a future shaped by excessive consumption and the waste of natural resources, where humanity has largely disappeared, and the purpose of architecture has been redefined. The machines we created have outlived our stories, our ambitions, and our hopes, continuing to operate in abandoned buildings that now function as reservoirs of energy for artificial intelligence and the few remaining humans. As machines persist, other species quietly reclaim these spaces, forming a new ecosystem shaped by cables, debris, and artificial climates — a reminder that the abuse of progress can leave lasting consequences.
