    Grayskull Islands

Been learning zbrush. Wasn't happy with the results straight from 3ds max/vray so I matte painted the final image:

    Here's the zbrush sculpt:

And here's an early render/photo-manip test before I went on to do the final painting:

I then wanted to test out the composition and see how it would work in a scene:

    Comments welcome!

More here (tutorial/making of coming soon!).

I love that piece. Love the set and all the possibilities it spawns. Also mood and rendering are top notch. Do you have more? I'd really like to see more

    Thanks

Well I have a couple of WIPs. Here's (more or less) the raw render:

All I did was put an image of water over the front, a duplicated photo that I cut out of a palm tree, some fog to separate and a basic backdrop. So the only thing that is CG here is the skull and rocks.

Here is the next step along with some rock photoshopping. I thought the eyes were a little empty so I put lights in them and re-rendered that portion:

    A little further along...

Just more of the same really, lots of photoshop matte painting. And here's a close-up...

well, I like it , IMHO I think a dark blue fog mood would suit the image better to add a bit of mystery to it, other then that good work! oh and also a bit more contrast

Yes, if this is a late evening shot , In my mind's eye a night shot with some dark blue and a little rim light on the skull would of also been quite interesting

yes you're right! It doesn't turn. Thanks for that.

The image is likely to appear in a popular 3d magazine in the coming months. I'll update when it does.
