I started working to the competition couple of days ago. Still not clear about the final shot, but Im sure about the main character. I have inspired by Geris's Game and Wall-e from Pixar, (and some motorboat engine..lol ^^)

'Stranger'
Modeling done in wings3D, further cables and wires planned- but missed - to be added in 3DS max.
Painted in mudbox & Gimp. 3DS max used as a bridge to Nox.
Render & post process done in Nox, no other program used for the post process.
Rendered in native 985x589, AA2, render time ~1 hour. Colors tweaked, fake dof and very small grain added (just try to eliminate the difference between the blurry smooth areas and fuzzy dof areas) to the raw image.
I will upload soon a better quality version too.
I really loved the competition, Nox is a great tool, I liked it during this time!
Same render in quite better quality. Still uses fake dof (sadly the real dof image still rendering).
Also this is my FINAL ENTRY if still valid to post for the compo.
(Im a bit confused about this, I thought the deadline was last midnight, but the topic still alive...)
You are right, the information was not very clear, sorry for this. But I think it's good to have one additional day to improve your work.
BTW I like your render a lot, especially the colouring, and the idea is great - combination of the robot and butterfly.
