Arnold (C4DtoA) by Autodesk. Arnold is best known for being the built-in renderer for Autodesk 3D applications. It's also been used in film production for over fifteen years. This renderer has been built around rock-solid features and uncompromised quality.

For rendering I recommend you V-Ray, Blender, Maxwell. Octane Render is the best, one of the fastest rendering software on the market. But there is one pros - its price is $399 for a license. For student architects its quite expensive.

For architecture you can't beat Vray. Maxwell is a great allrounder. For CGI Renderman and Arnold have been great but there are so many amazing in house bespoke tools out there it's hard to keep up. A lot of automated solutions like Lumion and twinmotion produce okay results but for my work in architecture, they still have a long way to go before they produce the quality Vray does.

I'm using the Arnold renderer. I really like the way it handles lighting and materials, and the results are always pretty realistic.

Octane. It can be a bit of a pain in the ass UI-wise but man does it deliver!
