    vray proxy grass tutorial

renders from a new tutorial on making grass using proxies: (http://www.peterguthrie.net/blog/200...torial-part-2/)

I used vray, but the techniques and principle should be applicable to mental ray too

    Hey paguthrie,

    really nice work.
    How about illumination?
    What did you use?
I think that most of the realism is in there.
'Cause I built my own scene, step by step, and try something with clovers and flowers, but didn't get same result. Could you please share?

By the way, that's my scene. Change a little bit the way to create, and still breaking the head for materials.

    Tks in adv,
    R.

    Hey dollmaker,
I've made some vrayproxy for a 50cmX50cm plane of grass, and after that painted with advpainter in a plane with some subdivision and noise.
    Flowers and clovers added before.
Let me know if you understand.

    re: light setup

I have a really low (vray)sun coming in from the right. Just experiment with the sun position and i'm sure you will get something similar.

    dollmaker,

make a plane, add some subdivision and after that a noise modifier.
Then just paint with advpainter on that plane.

@ Boldo, where is the pivot of your object located?

Did you try moving it using hierarchy -> affect pivot only -> and then place the pivot at the base of the grass cluster?
