Fast modeling competition. Edition 13 : trash can

Time you have : less then 2 hours

Subject for this weeks is: trash can.

There are two things that you must to do to start in this contest:

    1. Post in this thread screen shot from viewport of your model (wire and shaded).
    2. Eventually you can post some render, but we wouldn't entertain it in final judgment.
    3. Write how long it take to model it.

The price for first place as always : one of our CD's (can choose which, only Archinteriors, Archmodels or Textures4ever without Archshaders).

    COMPETITION END - 23-10-2008 (Oct 23th 2008)

    Best Regards

    trash can

    Hi there!,

Here is my trash can, i wanted to reproduce the one from Mac osx, the icon. It took me 40 min to modell it, but 30 min where actually selecting the edges so i could extrude correctly.

40 min modelling with maya and 10 min rendering with maxwell.

    My entry

Here is my entry, hope you guys like it.

Less than 2 hours to model.

I'm posting the wire views here, I'll be back in a minute to post the final render, what I suppose will take more than some minutes.

    Thanks,

actually I use turbosmooth with render iterations.

Do I have to post a print screen with turbosmooth applied? Final render is almost done, soon as possible I'll post it here.

I know you where asking "Hard step" but as i did the same trash can i know a technique. In this video tutorial is shown for maya, but im sure it can be done the same way in 3ds max, or sort of. Thats how i did it.

about the metal wire in max you can do it by creating a cylinder with a certain number of horizontal segments, then use the modifier twist to rotate the form on its x axis. Add an edit poly and extract the splines that draws the spiral around the cilinder, mirror them and you'll obtain a net.

Thats the hard way you did it mate, thats just 2 mins work using revolve in maya(i think so, as i m max user, Lathe tool in Max) i dont mean to discourage you, but just trying to help
