    Neosushi's Entry

    Hello Everybody,
i think this Challange is pretty fine. I really think this is going to be fun. So here is my entry stuff. I wish everybody good luck and of course alot of fun.

Here are some screenshots of the actual rig in progress:

And here is a small turntable movie of the rig:

Until now i setup the skeleton, constraints and controller. Next step will be weighting.

Ok here we go again. I have started to weight the character roughly. So please be nice with me I'll retouch the weights over so it looks better.
Oh, i also forgot to introduce myself, what a pitty
My name is David Drayton, i am a 3D Operator living in Germany.
I work with CINEMA 4D and also do alot of compositing works.
I started rigging half a year ago and didn't got very far since then. Still alot to learn. But i am very willing to
I mainly participate in this challange to learn, learn and learn

I also attached a movie with the rigs features. I also added a SplineIK to,
get the Spine correct and getting it twisting.

Alienrig + Rough Weights (click on image to watch the movie (ca. 4,9MB QT7)):

    Well here we go again
I started to animate a walkcycle to figure out how this creature could be able to walk. I also added some wobbely brains to the head. But i guess i need to reduce that a bit. Gives him a to funny look. And he isn't funny at all

Here ya go (ca. 2MB QT7):

    Hi neosushi,

that looks nice - especially the wobbely look. I wouldn't worry about the funny motions. What would be wrong with a tough guy who has also his humorous sides ?

Did you key each leg seperately or did you reuse the animation of the front legs ?

    cheers,
    Gonzo

BTW: good to see that there are other C4D entrants

    Hello gonzo3D,
well i ahve keyed them all seperately to stay in controll of what i am doing.
The wobbely look got reduced just slightlyy didn't want to loose it.

Yes it's great that there is another C4D user out there rigging and animating.
    Good luck mate.

    cheers

i really like to do the same....

    hi,

It really looks like a good rig. I don't know cinema4D, but I just wonder how you did your control window. Is it a cinema4D fonctionnality or did you script this interface yourself ? It seems very handy. Great idea.

    see you,

laspatul - this window is build-in Cinema. Its come from mouted plugin with characters.

But from my experience - its better to write sciript than learn new program especialy Cinema ;P

Yes, in Cinema R10 this window is a quite useful built-in feature called visual selector. In the earlier releases it was available as a seperate plugin.

    cheers,
    Gonzo
