    3dsmax rendering benchmark

Some time ago I came up with an idea about rendering benchmark for 3dsmax. We all want to know which machine is the fastest one, don't we? This test lasts a bit longer than others, and that's why the results should be more accurate. I hope You'll join this small experiment

    [center:3a01d38ac8] download scene
    [/center:3a01d38ac8]

    a small "how to"
download scene, extract files, open "hummer.max" (max 6 or 7) and hit render. do not change anything.

please post results in this form:

    time:
    3dsmax version:
    processor:
    CPU speed:
    FSB:
    size of memory:
    memory speed:
    ram timings:

    cheers,
    kozioo

PS: This model is my property. Any use (except this benchmark, of course) without my knowledge is prohibited.

yes, I forgot to add - fear not, errors are normal while rendering in 3dsmax 7

    This is my shot:

    ===================================
    time: 1:23:21
    3dsmax version: 6
    Processor: Intel Pentium IV
    CPU speed: 2.41 MHz
    FSB: 134 MHz
    Bus Speed: 535,9 Mhz
    Memory: 1280 DDR SDRAM (2 x 512 + 1 x 256)

    ===================================

I can´t believe it ....my poor PC...he can´t do it better...

If somebody could make an explain about, ¿?¿? I don´t know what parameters are very important in the render result. Thanks. :?

Could I make a render station, with 5 PIV 2.0 Ghz ¿?¿? Is it a good idea, or is it better buy an dual ¿? Thanksssssss :?

    Great idea make this post.

I think that most importat is this: Fastest CPU as possible (better dual, see results with dual procesors) Enough RAM memmory and fast (min 3x512, by my experience).
Alaso fast HDD (SCSI 10000rpm is helpfull).. and tahts it.. Thats my experience so it could be different...

Or use more pc connected with 1gb lan and made a render farm

Hi, can everybody write to your pc specification which graphic card you have please, or which graphic card was used by rendering, I think graphic card is too important for fast rendering, isn't it? thank you.

    Hi! These are my results:

    time: 39:27
    3dsmax version: 7
    processor: AMD ATHLON 64 3000+, 512KB L2 Cache
    CPU speed: 2 GHz
    FSB: 2 * 600MHz (1200MHz)
    size of memory: 512 Mb
    memory speed: 400 MHz
    ram timings: ???

ONE THING: i can't see sky reflections on the car like kozioo image. no problems with the file, only a warning for obsolete file. hdri map loaded (i hope).
