Importing architectural drawings to 3ds Max (images, AutoCAd DWGs, PDFs) to 3ds Max.

    Hey.

Michal (aka Andrew) here from GarageFarm.NET Academy.

I would like to share with you videotutorial I made about importing architectural designs to 3ds Max in different formats.

Setting up image references for 3d modeling in 3ds Max (PNG, JPG and others)

In this tutorial, I will show you how to import design drawings saved as images (PNG, JPG, and other formats) into 3ds Max and set them as references for modeling architecture. On top of that, the tutorial is full of tips tricks that will make your modeling faster.

Learn how to align design levels to 3ds Max coordinate system, organize drawings on layers, align various levels plans to each other, and make sure you don't need to turn the references on and off constantly when you change views.

    Table of contents:
    00:00 - Introduction
00:38 - Creating material for references
00:56 - Adding UVW mapping to reference plane
01:09 - Setting the proper display quality of textures in Viewports
01:55 - Setting quality of textures in older versions of 3ds Max
02:19 - Setting correct proportions for the reference texture
02:26 - Setting the size of the reference image
03:54 - Creating separate planes for every view
04:10 - Setting references heights to match 3ds Max coordinate system
04:31 - Aligning sections and plans
05:13 - Setting object properties of reference planes
05:30 - Organizing references with Layer Manager
    05:38 - Summary

I hope you will find it useful.

    Hi.

I have another tutorial to share.

Setting AutoCAD drawings as references for modeling architecture in 3ds Max

In this tutorial, Andrew will show you how to import design drawings saved as AutoCAD's DWGs into 3ds Max and set them as references for modeling architecture - On top of that, the tutorial is full of tips tricks that will make your modeling faster!

Learn how to align design levels to 3ds Max coordinate system, organize drawings on layers, double-check 3ds MAx import precision, and make sure you don't need to turn the references on and off constantly when you change views!
