Evermotion File Slow in 3ds Max with Proxies

I've noticed some Evermotion files are often slow to do anything in, take a long time to, several seconds clicking on objects. They use proxies so I can't figure out what would cause this with proxys. Is there something unique to evermotion files that I should look for that would cause this?
