The Secret Garden - Challenge 2016

Hi everyone,

I sketched all the past days and now I'm ready to move it into 3d

what is my concept?
well, it's a magic garden combining together all the unreal secret plots&scenes I've seen this past few years in Avatar&Fantastic Beasts. these are top inspirations
most important is what this secret garden keeps hiding. I'll reveal as I WIP

here are my first tests:
I wasn't ok with my first fog. tried some combination between volume and environment fog. finally I set it to environment fog. brought it closer, 15m, heght about 5m, etc

now I'm modeling my central piece, a honeycomb plant
also there's an update for leaves material. they look more reflective, more wet

I removed the fall tree on the right for a better composition
new updates tomorrow, following detailing for main plant

I'm building in growfx the main plant
I will be back with a rendered version

rendered the new plant. much simplier and natural look
all those light bulbs gonna have more light
testing some glow effects

gonna add some fireflies and some lightened branches on the ground

hey everyone,
this is my current status
I;m making a skin material. working on it for over 10h
just trying to get rid of the light flakes. due to some bad welding on geometry

My final entry:
For me my secret garden has to offer some real secret things or feelings. So I thought that there has to be a tree of life or an Eden garden that keeps and raises childs and souls.

congrats to the first two winners, shows finess with theirs skills and love the images really really great! since the deadline I knew that one of the two will get the first place
but some of the awarded images are so much predictable. would have expected to agree more on the concept of a secret garden. rarely and only in competitions we can build concepts that clients rarely approach
