Whola lotta loft! - challenge 2015 - diy lab.

    Hello!

I am excited to take a part in Evermotions "Wholle lotta loft" challange. As mentioned in challenges descriptions of lofts, they are big, open spaces, and this was the feeling I tried to mimic. As for the function of the space, I decided, to create an open office/maker lab/incubator type of space, where people would come collaborate and work on their projects or ideas. I am attaching some reference photos, aswell as a quick (really quick) sketch.

I wish luck to all of the contestants!

    Workflow

I regret, that I didn't create the thread while i was modeling, though I have some WIP material, so I will be posting the process all at once.

First I made a logo for the lab, to give it identity. Then I turned it into a 3D model. Below I am attaching logo, 3D variation of a logo, some WIP modeling screens and some models I modeled. Two most notable models are the chair, which is Lupina (shell) chair from Slovenian architect and industrial designer Niko Kralj and the CS1 table, from Swiss/californian collaboration Astfrei. I did most of the modeling myself, except for the Eamse chair and Apple devicesthat I got from Model+model, plants that I got from VizPeople and 3D printer, that I got from Grabcad.

    Lighting, texturing, rendering

All of the lighting, texturing and rendering was done in Corona Render v1.3. The lighting was quite straight forward. I used corona sky for enviroment map, corona portal for windows and corona light for interior lights. The texturing was also kept simple, materials mainly consisting of difusse, ref. glossines and bump maps. I attached some wire and test renders.
