Great work neb really like it , only one thing i shuld be say in this image i saw all rain drops have a similar speed but i think drops in the under the tree should have a low speed than others.
Sorry for criticism your works always inspiring me

m3dve - I haven't a render yet I stopped rendering and restarted it again after a few improvements. I would like to render additional images after the comeptition finish. Yes at the begining I've decided to use a full Maxwell DOF feature to separate a raindrops from background. It gives me opportunity to avoid a visual mess when I showing a frozen in motion rain in my scene
saeedmagic - thank you very much. Good question because I always examine every part of my scene when I'll try to reconstruct a physical phenomena in full 3D. In this case only very speed raindrops could be take a motion blur effect. I add partice emitters to simulate a part of raindrops which bounce from the pavement. After "crash" they get more speed. Every each other raidrops are stopped in motion by the very fast shutter speed in camera like in real world. Please see these links. There are my inspiration, especially image at the left up corner. Anyway of course I can't build a hole effects correctly. This isn't a extra computer simulation but only hand made 3D scene

Thanks! I described my "stopped in time" idea before. If you check my wips you can find an examples of real photography of that effect.

    Second attempt. Summer ?

for me fantastic - but you don't use motionblur for rain and it looks like hail - ha ha ha !!! that mistake you make perfect render wit hail - it is a autumn's city?? a spring's city or what???
probably you win - with hail ;-) rain
