Zachary House

Here's a project that I started a while back. I wanted to mimic a few views of this existing house in Zachary (designed by Stephen Atkinson). I love the concept and atmosphere... also, it was a great way to test how many billions of polys I could scatter in a scene (everything is modeled).

I used 3DS Max, Mental Ray, and Photoshop. I optimized the scene pretty easily by using falloffs for indirect lighting, scattering, and sampling. The 2000 px wide image rendered in less than 1hr.

This project was a great opportunity for me to experiment with "filtered" light. For the interior shots, I filtered sunlight through semi translucent leaves before it entered the translucent window treatments. This, in turn softened and tinted the light before it filled the interior spaces.
